This Is Not A Love Show, a series of dance performances by world-renowned choreographer Sharon Eyal and co-creator Gai Behar that brings highlights from their repertoire to Berlin, plunging the audience into a world of intense emotions, expressive movement and immersive techno-beats.

Staged at Kraftwerk Berlin curated by LightArtSpace (LAS) across in December 2021 and January 2022 LAS has showcased "a survey of Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar’s major works, introducing Berlin audiences to key highlights from their repertoire, including the Berlin premieres of Soul Chain and Promise, both tanzmainz productions and OCD Love a piece made by Eyal & Behar uniquely for L-E-V Dance Company. During their two-month residency with LAS, they developed a new striking choreography incorporating music collaborations. The series culminates in the world premiere of the new commission Wet, a site-specific creation featuring live performances in three acts by musicians CURL, Koreless and Ori Lichtik."

I would have loved to have gone but this was no time for short-notice trips to Berlin acorss multiple days and Berlin audiences - already having had the pleasure of two of Eyal & Behar's works from Staatsballett Berlin in tha last couple of years - the remarkable Half Life and Strong - snapped the tickets up in record time.

Looking at the pleasingly detailed web content for the event I was very excited to spot a familiar name. A name that suggests - promises? - much future joy for this particular fan of Sharon Eyal:

Does this mean that MIF are working with Sharon Eyal for either a future Manchester International Festival show or event - or perhaps something for The Factory (which is going to need a lot of future programming)?

Eyal & Behar are interested in the intersection of movement, music and space, repeatedly bringing their work outside traditional dance venues. Their unique and signature style merges classical dance with underground club culture, continually pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance, challenging the conventions of what to expect from an evening of performances.
